Get Involved!

As a volunteer-led, volunteer-driven organization, we rely on the dedication of our colleagues eager to share their time, talent, and energy to help make EDS the premier global society devoted to advancing the field of electron devices.

There are many opportunities to become involved with EDS:

  • Standing committees deal with functional areas of the society, such as publications, meetings and conferences, and educational outreach.
  • Technical committees focus on specific areas of electron devices within EDS’s field of interest, such as photovoltaics, compound semiconductor devices and circuits, optoelectronic devices, and nanotechnology.
  • Elected Members-at-Large function as the society’s legislative body.  They have full voting privileges in elections regarding society business, bylaws and constitution revisions, and for key posts such as President, Treasurer, and the VPs of committees. Members-at-large play a vital role in the leadership of the society, and as such, one must serve on a committee for at least one year prior to serving as an Elected Member-at-Large.
There are two governance meetings each year and all EDS members are invited to attend.  Attending one of our meetings is an important first step to becoming more involved in EDS.  One meeting is held in early December in conjunction with the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM). The other is held in the May-June time period and typically takes place in either Europe or Asia.

We encourage you to contact if you would like to get involved as a member of the EDS Board of Governors. Please let us know if there is a particular area in which you are interested in contributing to the society.
