Form a Student Branch Chapter

EDS Student Branch Chapters can be initiated only in educational/research Institutions where graduate studies and research activities in the areas related to EDS fields of interest are taking place.  The prime requirement is a Faculty Advisor who is an EDS member and having research in the fields of interest of EDS and willing to devote time voluntarily to develop a student chapter.  The minimum number of active EDS student members required for the formation of an EDS student chapter is 12, even though the IEEE MGA requirement states as 6.  This is to ensure that the student chapter has growth and sustainability prospects. Those who are interested may refer to EDS Regions & Chapters Manual for a general guideline. EDS Regional SRC in that Region or EDS VP may be contacted prior to the petition to know the feasibility and growth prospects.  The SRC team or VP can guide the interest group.

Petitions for Student Branch Chapters can be submitted online after the proposed Student Branch Chapter has been agreed to by the Student Branch Counselor.  Once the proposal has been accepted by the Student Branch Counselor, please visit https://mga.ieee.org/resources-operations/formations-petitions and follow the instructions to submit a petition.
